We are thrilled to announce the triumphant return of Johnny's Piano Bar in San Miguel Centro this August! Johnny’s Piano Bar was a cherished cornerstone of the SMA community for nearly a decade under the stewardship of Sweet Nights Entertainment, a company founded by Johnny along with several investors of time, love, and equity. This revival marks not only the reawakening of a beloved venue but also the continuation of a legacy rooted in community engagement, support, and a rich history of musical excellence.

Sweet Nights Entertainment and Johnny’s Piano Bar have missions of providing quality entertainment to the community of San Miguel, offering a fair wage to musicians, and giving back to the community. In the few months since its inception, Sweet Nights Entertainment has produced numerous events that have successfully achieved these goals.

We produced “The Big Band Ball” at the Real De Minas in December 2023, a sold-out, large-scale musical event that included fundraising for money and gifts for the residents of Casa Hogar Santa Julia Don Bosco, a safe house for children and teen girls. We participated in the Toys for Tots Christmas Musical Festival, assembling a 6-piece band from the Thornton School of Music, University of Southern California. We also produced “Salon”, raising 41,000 pesos and assembling 35 bags of food for Yo Animalitos, demonstrating our commitment to animal welfare and community solidarity. Additionally, we produced a Luncheon at the School for Deaf, an unforgettable event in support of the School for Deaf, exemplifying our dedication to inclusivity and accessibility. Furthermore, we produced “Music on the Lawn”, raising 200,000 pesos to keep our youth engaged and off the streets through football. Finally, we produced a musical event and auction that raised 150,000 pesos in support of CASA, a support center for gay youth.

The next step for Sweet Nights was to reestablish Johnny’s home base piano bar. Here, he will be able to provide incredible musical events and good food and drink at reasonable prices, as well as a free space for the collective of local San Miguel musicians to rehearse, gather, and jam.

Johnny has a long history of providing high-level musical experiences to audiences all over the world. He led The Johnny Favourite Swing Orchestra, a Canadian swing revival band that captured the hearts of audiences in the late 1990s. The band's debut album, "The Life Desire," released independently in 1997, garnered critical acclaim and set the stage for their rise to fame. Winning an East Coast Music Award for Best Jazz Group in 1998, the band signed to Universal Records and released their second album, "Holiday Romance," later that year. Their electrifying live performances, featuring a mix of original compositions, jazz standards, and innovative covers of classic and hard rock songs, earned them widespread recognition and radio airplay. Johnny Favourite continued to captivate audiences as a solo artist, releasing albums such as "The Tonight Album" and "Troubadour."

Now, Johnny's Piano Bar, as a part of Sweet Nights Entertainment, is poised to carry on this legacy of musical excellence and community spirit. With Johnny now enjoying over five years of sobriety, he and his partners aim to bring a full and delightful non-alcoholic menu of drink options alongside a traditional bar menu. Johnny's passion for nurturing talent and creating unforgettable experiences, coupled with Sweet Nights Entertainment's dedication to philanthropy and inclusivity, will allow for the reopening of Johnny's to be a celebration of artistry, joy, and togetherness.
